Show I THEOLD FOLKS DAY How tho Veterans Will bo Entertained In Salt Lake Today belongs the old folks The procession from the Union Pacific depot in this city to the Exposition building build-ing this morning will be one of the most unique and interesting ever seen in Salt Lake For many years past the old folks of Salt Lake county have yearly visited vari out points within a radius of fifty miles in the capacity of an excursion In everyplace every-place they have been received with the utmost ut-most kindness and consideration and the municipal and other authorities have vied with each other in doing honor to the aged This year however there is a change in the programme Instead of going from home to spend the day of all days with the aged of other towns the old people of Salt Lake will playhost and their guests will be the aId folks of Veber county with whom such an enjoyable time was had a year since VicePresident Holcomb of the Union Pacific has tendered a free train to all of j the old people residing in Weber county The Electric street car company and the ttmtBros company Have tendered free transportation from then depot to the fairgrounds fair-grounds for fully half the pumber expected and other citizens have furnished convey ances and the procession that will form on the arrival of the old folks here will be one of > the most unique and novel in the history of the city All persons whose badges indicate the rages r-ages will be entitled to free transportation on the street cars today The following rules have been adopted to distinguish the different ages Seventy to eighty a red badge eighty to ninety a blue badge ninety to one hundred hun-dred a white badge all centenarians will wear golden star These badges should be worn on the left breast and all who wear them are entitled to every courtesy pro voided for their annual enjoyment both by the committee and all citizens The lower floor of the exposition building will be reserved as a banquet hall aud none but those wearing badges willbe admitted A limited number will be admitted to the upper floor by ticket only The management of the banquet is in the hands of a committee of ladies furnished by each ward of this city The ladies assisting will wear a blue ribbon tied around the left arm above the elbow Belowis the programme fortkoxiay Doors will be open to the upper floor for the old folks between 0 and 11 a in At the sound of the bugle they will decend to the first iIoor after which the generalpub lie having tickets will be admitted tb the gallery 1m ocdtion by L D Young a pioneerjof 1647 During the banquet Mr WC Dunbar will serenade the participants with the Caledonia oand an Qld Scotch custom V V RECESS Opening hymn Hail Columbia by thcrTab eniacle choir numbering fifty oices Holds band and thc audience landing Addresser elcomeMa or G M Scott > Response by Mayor Keisel t > f OgdonV r St thrSpanglcdJ3annerUektsBand Address GoternorTlioriias Old PoIlsMedldyTabernaeklioir Address Hon F S RicTiards Music n u = L Holds Ham Atldretja Judge Orlando Powers Anthem from JJelhazzar O GIve ThanksTabernacle i Choir Distribution prizes At tho close the audience will sins 1 Praise God from WhOm Ill Blessings Flow Bishop W B Preston George Goddard C R Savage William Eddington William Naylor William L Binder John Kirk1 man Andrew Jensen Nelson A Empoy committee of arrangements |
