Show part of this paper Here wo may only re fer to that life and pay an insufficient tribute trib-ute to the man who was known and loved in this city as few men have been known and loved and as few will be for not many are endowed with those noble qualities of head and heart which enable them to stand conspicuously before their fellows for half a century and all the time all men speaking well of them Such qualities arc rare indeed Bishop SHARP possessed them and because he did so this is today a sorrowing community com-munity the mourning being confined con-fined to no class or caste for the deceased was broader and better than classes or castes as broad and good as humanity hu-manity itself The thousands of men who were in his employ during the past quarter of a century commanded his admiration and respect quite as much as did the wealthy and the distinguished of earth with L whom ho was thrown in his later years Indeed the sorrow which his death occasions occa-sions will be keenest among the poor and I the lowly the humble toilers and the recipients re-cipients of charity and kindness and humane hu-mane consideration at the hands of Bishop I SHARP for by them was he dearly loved I ana them am no love dearly Of his achievements it is not for us to speak here His years have been full of good deeds and hts active vigorous well ordered life was devoted to progress in the material world and to tho betterment of r tho condition of his fellow men His splendid record is written in inoffnceablo characters all over this territory and his name will stand among those which will be most honored ana most lasting by and among the people of Utah The sympathy of the community goes out towards the afflicted family = 1 |
