Show Lisppsition of the Chuyennes WASHINGTON Jan 10Secretary Proctor Proc-tor today received a telegram from General Gen-eral Miles dated Pine Ridge Jan 9 as follows fol-lows The commission appointed to consider con-sider the condition of the Cheyenne Indians In-dians at this place and in Montana unanimously unani-mously recommend the removal of these Indians to Fort Keogh reservation There are already 250 at Fort Keogh and the men enlisted as scouts came southeast under Lieutenant Casey and were joined by nearly all the ablebodied men from tho agency Together they have done most valuable service in fighting and harrassing the hostile Sioux These are now in danger dan-ger from the Sioux and if there is no objec tion I will when this affair closes at once transfer them to Fort Keogh as an act of justice and good policy add in accordance with the recommendation of the Cheyenne commission |
