| Show A Wonderful New Mineral BOSTON March 6George A Clarke an experienced ironworker of this city claims he has discovered ore in the Rocky mountains moun-tains which he believes is new to the world Hb says of it I took specimens ol the ore to assayers in Cincinnati Chicago and Boston Bos-ton and not one of them could tell me the name of the mineral Then I began here a series of experiments mixing it with molten mol-ten iron combined perfectly with the iron and I found that only a small quantity was necessary to increase the fluidity of the metal It rendered the iron ductile and in low grades acted as a purifier Tho product pro-duct of the alloy was a homogeneous metal of very fine pores capable of a higher finish than before I found it gave the metal greater density and great tensile strength I is noncorrosive Clarke produced a handful of ore substance sub-stance that looked like fine sandstone save that it was black aud many pieces of it presented a highly polished surface as smooth as a bit of glass Clarke refused to state the location the feld |
