An Escaped Convict Suicides KEOKDK Ia March GDan Porter who was sentenced to be hung for murder at Quincy Ills March 20 and who escaped from jail Sunday shot himself today to evade capture Four farmers armed with Winchesters had tracked a suspicious looking look-ing negro who proved to be Porter through the snow to a house near Fair mont Mo Upon the farmers demanding Porters surrender he gave up his revolver and razor but told his captors to shoot him Or he would shoot himself One of the farmers then fired a shot but without effect ef-fect Porter then pulled a revolver from his pocket and shot himself in the head dying instantly His body will be taken to Quincy tonight
