every available I nook and cranny was convorted into a L veritable flower garden rich in the gorgeous gorge-ous tints that only our mountain caflons can produce To perfect the entire picture the Venetian blinds were lowered and day light niado to give placo to the soft glow of r tall wax candles which were placed horo and there about the room and partially hidden by autumn vines and leaves Promptly at 4 the dining room doors were opened and the guests bidden to the feast They nil with one accord joined in praise of the artistic beauty of the dining room some declaring it to be the most beautiful decoration they had ever beheld From the lamp depended from tho ceiling to the four corners of the room were long festoons of yellow oak leaves Across the lace curtains wore brilliant vines of scarlet and brown wild grape Back of tho handsome bideboard was n mass of yellow poplar waving to the ceiling The mantletoo was banked in yellow and the mirrors retlected the room again and again About the edge of the table ran a vine of that ever graceful I English ivy and In the center was a beautiful beau-tiful pyramid of flovreru and fruit Various i Vari-ous colored vines and leaves formed a scroll down the length of the table Tho table was radiant in cut glass delicate china and silver Each course was served with a leaf leaves and the iridescent finger bowls on fig At each ladys plate was a handsome souvenir boquet tied with a ribbon The toilets of the ladies were very handsome I hand-some and blended admirably with the pro vailing autumn tints The menu was as follows Bouillon nas one lodge in this city the only one in the teritory the Court Pride of Utah No 7257 The meetings are held regularly on the first and third Wednesday of each month in the A O U W hall Mr George Clark is the chief ranger Mr W H Wood the subchief ranger and Mr George Armour tho secretary secre-tary There are at present fifty members but new ones are joining and it is the am bition of the lodge to increase to a hundred in the near future The lodge was established some three year ago and has experienced 1 great many misfortunes since but it seems that these have been passed over and now it is appllUons Tho Ancient Order of Foresters was founded at Knareshorough Castle Eng land in 1745 under the title of Royal I Foresters by which name it continued to I be known until at a grand convention of delegates held at Rochdale in August 1S34 < it was changed and is now known as the Ancient Order of Foresters of r America I was introduced to this couutry about the year 1700 and from very smal beginnings has grown to be a power ful and influential order numbenng infucntal over one hundred and fifty thousand members i Its aims and objects are much the same as those of kindred secret societies viz societcs benevolence friendship mutual assistance and the of dispensing charity amongst the sick and needy members of their widows Tho order is a first rate one to belong to since it admis sion to their own lodge und on three cane i pates for Fidelity No 17 Ridgley met on Wednesday at Gladstone hal and transacted important business Grand Secretary J J Thomas was prcs eat and gave some interesting talks on sub jects for the good of tho order After long discussion it was almost unanimously decided that Itidel Ridsley lodge l would e take 2000 of stock in the I O O F temple and change its I place of meeting from Gladstone hall to the new temple as soon as the lapor is com pleted which will bo about the iirstof next year The building of the temple is progress ing rapidly and gives promise of being a very handsome and commodious structure which will be a credit to the city All the lodges in the city will then use it ao their meeting place and the present I O O F hal will then be given up l Fidelity Xc 17 had a good meeting on Tuesday One candidate Dr Preuss re cOed the initiatory desree It was do cided that this lodge would take SOW of stock in the temple Several OF AMERICA met as usual The most important business busi-ness was the consideration of securing a mora commodious meeting plane where all the camps could meet I was finally decided de-cided to lease the Union block hal now used by the Odd Fellows the lease to tako effect from the beginning of next yearn year-n the Odd Fellows will move to their temple THE ORDER OF SONS OF ST GEORGE Is congratulating itself on the success of the sociable which it gave at the Temple of Honor hall last Wednesday evening These sociables are bringing the order into enviable en-viable notoriety by the excellence of the entertainments and they will be given monthly during the winter season The last one was a great success the hall being crowded t its utmost capacity and all wore I delighted
