Show A Train Drops into a Bayou MEMPHIS Tenn Dec 5The northbound north-bound train on the Louisville New Orleans Or-leans Texas left the track near Evansville Evans-ville Mississipi this morning ran along the ties for 170 feet and on to the trestle over the bayou This gave way and the train consisting of two day coaches one Pnllman sleeper and twe bgggage cara wall 9 precipitated thirty feet into the bayou which is partially filled with water No person was killed sixteen persons were injured some quite seriously The following follow-ing is a list Conductor L J Thomas C PennIngton newsboy Alfred Carr L L Williams colored Thomas Carr W R Parkins William Thomas colored Andy Holmes colored Presto Godfrey I colored F T Robertson J Kinehen porter J F Carver Judge J L Steele of New York W H Blakeman Cicero Thomas colored Lawrence Plank New Orleans The wreck was caused by a broken truck of tke tender and consider ing the speed the train was running at and the distance it dropped into the bayou it is a miracle no ono was killed |
