Show HOUSE WASHINGTON March 2 A letter from the Secretary of the Treasury showing the probable loss by destruction destruc-tion of United States bonds was laid before the House Unanimous consent was secured to have printed in the Record a memorial signed by glass blowers protesting against the reduction of duty upon imported im-ported glass as proposed by Mills tariff bill Randall from the committee on rules reported a resolution providing I for an evening session every Friday for the consideration of the private pension and political disability bills Adopted The House in committee of the whole resumed consideration of the omnibus bill providing for the payment pay-ment of thirty additional claims for supplies used for the army during the war Reported by the Court of Claims nnder the provisions of the Bowman actLee Lee of Virginia offered an amendment amend-ment appropriating 20000 for the re lief of the Protestant Episcopal Theo logical Seminary and High School of Virginia and after a vigorous opposition oppo-sition from a number of members on the ground that it established a dangerous dan-gerous precedent the amendment was adopted 102 to 64 The bill was then agreed to and reported to the House penning action a recess was taken until 230 in the evening the session being for the consideration of pension bills EVENING SESSION The House tonight began its evening even-ing session for the consideration of pension bills Twentyfive of these measures were passed together with bills removing the political disabilities of several men At 10 oclock the House adjourned till tomorrow |
