Show Thirteenth Ward The Thirteenth ward meeting house presented a gala appearance Tuesday evening the occasion occa-sion being being the presentation of a banner to the marching clnb and a flag to the drum corps The marching club in uniform and the drum corps made a fine showing in a short parade through some of the streets The drum corps opened the entertainment by a selection ana awoke the audience to enthusiasm Mr H S Goddard followed with a song entitled I Fear no Foe Ho was warmly applauded and sung Ehren on the Rhine Mr James H Moyle thespeaker of the evening owas introduced intro-duced and addressed the audience after which Mr Alonzo Platt sang Where Did You Get That Bag and was loudly recalled The Spanish Guitar and Mandolin club which had kindly consented to assist in the evenings entertainment rendered a selection This was followed by a song by Miss Annie Stromberg The president announced the presentation of a banner and when Misses Kate and Ale Burt appeared bearing the banner the applause was deafening The presentation was made by the young ladies of the ward In an appropriate speech by Miss Louie Platt The captain of the marching club Mr D J Mackintosh replied in a few words of thanks The flag for the drum corps was brought forward and Mrs H G Park in a few words presented it to the drum corps Mr J C Jensen drum major thanked the giver in a few words After the presentation Lillie and May Burt sang in a sweet manner the StarSpangled Banner the audience joining in the chorus The Guitar and Mandolin club rendered another selection and the meeting was brought to a close A dance was participated in until a late hour |
