Show At the Eighth Ward The Eighth ward meetinghouse wase a scene of festivity and rejoicing Tuesday night the occasion oc-casion belug the regulr meeting of the ward political club when two magnificent banners were presented one for the senior and one for the junior marching clubs The house was filled to overttowing every seat being tilled 11i g L Dahlqutst made a ege remarks on the differences dif-ferences of the parties A duet by Mn Eva Smith and Miss Jennie Mortenson was received with applause by the audience after which R W Young the speaker of the evening was introduced in-troduced who spoke on the political issues Ths Glee club then rendered a soul stirring selection after which Mrs Esther B Fletcher in behalf of the ladles of the ward presented a magnificent banner to the Adult Marching club with a very neat speech giving some good advice ad-vice and pledging the ladles to do all in their power to help along the cause The speech was responded to by J DII Mc Allister the captain of the Adult Marching club The banner was accepted In the spirit that it was given an emblem of honor justice and equal rights we pledge to bear It aloft and unblemished un-blemished Miss Mollie Connelly in behalf of the young ladles of the ward presented the Juvenile Marching club with a beautiful banner with avery a-very pretty and appropriate speech The banner was accepted and responded to by John McDonald jr the captain of the Juniors The banner i made of the same colors as our national flag red white and blue The word Justice In large letters shows up very nice l t A vote of thanks was tendered R w Young for his speech Afterwards the meeting adjourned to Friday December mas 2 at 730 p m on account of Christ |
