Show I ON THE LOWER FLOOR The Elegant Fruit Vegetable and Flower Exhibits Other Home Industries The lower floor is occupied by the fruit flower vegetable exhibits mineral department depart-ment and other home industries VEGETAnLES There never was perhaps a more gratifying grati-fying exhibit of vegetables than s made this year The show is not a large one but the quality of the exhibits was never surpassed sur-passed in the west When one considers the general scarcity of water throughout through-out the territory the wonder is that such a showing could be made yet even that idea disappears when he inquires further and learns that numbers of the best vegetables seen were grown without irrigation The best of the vegetables seen were grown in Salt Lake and Utah counties FRUITS There is also an excellent display of fruits prominent among which are those grown by Joshua Terry of Draper The peaches shown by this gentleman are exceptionally ex-ceptionally fine and elicit favorable comment com-ment on all hands There is nearly every thing in the shape of fruits that can be grown in Utah The display is one that for quality and general appearance has never been rivalled in Utah There are also some good specimens of dried fruits and preserves FLOWERS There are several competitors in this department de-partment and the display is a most creditable credit-able one all around The mammoth pyramid pyra-mid in the centre of the hall was arranged I for the benefit of the exposition by Mr I John Reading who does not enter the lists I this year MIXES AXD MIXING I Prominent among our industrial exhibits is the mining department which is under the watchful eye of Fred Simon who is I I working like a beaver to make this portion og kfhh es evidences of the fair a success From the evidences seen yesterday he will get there The display J I dis-play is far ahead of that giver in 1S55 The Ontario Daly and Crescent were among those who forwarded specimens for the show order ROME ISDC8TJU I There are also excellent displays made by our soap factories woollen mills glass factories fire clay and sewer pipe works aerated water houses flour mills cheese factories dairies cigar manufactories cracker factories candy factories photograph I photo-graph galleries cheese factories creameries cream-eries bakeries flour mills show case houses book binderies paper mills saddle and harness factories etc etc The whole is such a show as must be gratifying to both exhibitor and spectator |
