Show The Twentieth The Twentieth ward people had a rousing rous-ing meeting on Monday eveding in the school house which was filled and only standing room left Professor Danes led off with an organ solo which called forth a recall Mr Brice Sainsburv Mr Fred Sansom and Mr William Willes each con HI ibuted to the evenings entertainment Mi Joseph Sharp read ina en acceptable manner a piece entitled The Kind of lento len-to Form a State Mr B H Roberts was then introduced as the speaker of the even jug He chose for his subject Judge I Andersons decision in the Moore naturalization natur-alization case and handled it in a very thorough and lucid manner The speaker continued for over an hour and kept his audience listening with the closest attention atten-tion who frcquentli showed their approval of the speakers efforts with liberal applause ap-plause It seemed to be the universal opinion of all those present that a rare treat was afforded them and when the speaker closed he vas rewarded with long continued applause Nothing short of a verbatim report of the speech would do fi the speaker or the subject justice and this we regret to say we are not at present able tl15e Mr H S Goddard quite captured hisVilience his audience with his masnm cent singing of a couple of songs of WU ham Willies composition The next meeting meet-ing promises to be equall attractive and it is safe to say the Twentieth waid is alive to its duties |
