tendered by Mr and Mrs C W Bennett to Mr B B Young and Madame Mazzucato Young was in all respects an elegant and enjoyable affair To Mr Young the occasion was one of handshaking and the renewal of old friendship 4 while his wife was scarcely less at home l from the fact of her intimate association with the Bennets when they resided in London It was while she was the Signora Mazzucato a teacher in the National Training School that Mr and Mrs Bennett formed her acquaintance and the association thus begun continued and extended with the warmest friendship until it was interrupted by the departure of the Bennetts for home Last night was therefore but the renewal of an old association as-sociation for Madame Young and she was not allowed for a moment to feel that she was among strangers The i most enjoyable sociability and informality inform-ality reigned throughout the evening Intermingled with the busy chatting were some gems of music Mr Young rendering several selections Mrs McCook singing two tender little songs and Mr weihe performing several sev-eral of his masterly executions Madame j r Young accompanied both her husband and the violinist and though in the latter instance she read at sight there was no mistaking the splendid artistic methods of her schooling Mr Young gave an English ballad and sang Even Bravest Hearts Must Swell Faust and The Tempest of the Heart Troy atore both the latter in Italian his voice has materially improved in volume vol-ume range and richness and shows the evidences of the careful training it has undergone since he was last heard here Mr and Mrs Bennett received and entertained their guests with the heartiest heart-iest and most profuse hospital ity Among the ladies and gentlemen j gentle-men present on the occasion were Governor and Mrs Murray General and Mrs McCook Bishop and Mrs Tuttle Mrs Hamilton Mr and Mrs Le Grand Young Miss Gracie Young Mrs Joseph Young Miss Rettie Young I Mr and Mrs George Y Wallace Mr and Mrs C C Goodwin composed of young men well known in the community 1t com-munity Onevfrthep ncipal objects is toinrnishamuseS n during the win termonths in the shape of parties etc r and the club has to its credit some of f I the most enjoyable balls of any given this season Each of the Club parties have been given on the select principle the keenest discrimination being used in the issuance invitations the young gentlemen having no desire to make anything but simply to bring a pleasant and agreeable company j com-pany together In thIS they have succeeded to such an extent that an invitation from the Evening Social Club is a favor always appreciated by their many friends During the coin ing summer it is the intention to give pic nics and many other forms gf out door amusements following are the that ladies were desired to appear without hats The Masonic Library Ball Thursdayevening the Walker Opera Rouse will be a scene of brilliancy and enjoyment On that occasion occurs the sixth annual ball given in aid of the Masonic Library Tickets have been selling very rapidly during the past week and financial as well as asocial a-social success seems already assured To one unacquainted with the facts in the case the amount of instruction and entertainment furnished by the Masonic Library would read like a fable and there is no reason why the citizens of Salt Lake should not do all in their power to help sustain this most worthy institution in our midst The Theatre naIl On Friday next occurs the ball given r by the Theatre attaches for which elaborate elab-orate preparations have been made and which we are willing to assert will be a a most enjoyable event The different committees are in the hands of well y known gentlemen who are doing all in I their power to help the cause
