Show Citizen 01 Tfia month Edna Swaner, Farmington, is honored as Senior Citizen of the Month, a member of the Golden Years Center. SHE SPENDS many hours volunteering at the center and also devotes hours of her time calling on and visiting those who are shut in, or lonely and in need of visitors, also gives hours in the nursing homes, cheering many of those who are confined there. Edna lived in Salt Lake City as a child, attended the Irving Jr. High School and graduated " from South High and from the LDS Business College. She worked as secretary and in other jobs before meeting her husband, Frances Carl Swaner. THE COUPLE met at the old Coconut Grove and were married in 1936, moving to Farmington soon after. Mrs. Swaner worked at the Ogden Arsenal during the war and was later employed at the Lagoon where Mr. Swaner was the landscape gardener. He is now deceased. She has taught Primary for the past 23 years and enjoyed going with her husband rock hunting, both were avid rock hounds. Edna also loves to walk and gets her exercise in the fresh air. She has also assisted with the Davis County Fair Flower Show for many years. SHE HAS three children, Jeannine S. Home, Kaysville; June S. Randolph-Seng of Bountiful; and F. Laddie Swaner of Price. There are ten grandchildren. Edna has taken the bus twice each week for two years now, to get to the center and helping with the lunch program, getting lunches ready to send to the home-bound home-bound and then serving those who come to the center. She often comes to the center an extra day, is always willing to fill in when extra help is needed. need-ed. THIS AMBITIOUS lady deserves a great hand for doing do-ing so much to help the senior citizens, always willing togive of her time to those who need special attention.
