banks of Logan River at a point in the mouth of the canyon two of them attempted to cross the stream on a narrow foot bridge when one of them a daughter of Mr Carl Kepp ner aged 8 years fell into the water and was swiftly borne down the current Her companions screamed and a boy named Easterholdt who was some distance away hearing their cries ran to the spot leaped into the river and rescued the little girl who had floated down the stream from 100 to 200 yards from where she fell in and would inevitably inevit-ably have been drowned had she not been quickly rescued The rescue was a heroic act
