Show Briggs DUP The Ann Briggs Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers met Feb. 9 at the home of Donna Nielson. EIGHTEEN members and two county visitors attended. The county visitors were LaVaun Burgin, first vice president and Helen Sanderson, Sander-son, custodian of relics. Ruth Goddard, parliamentarian, led the daughters in the pledge of allegiance, with Marilyn Bennett giving the invocation. Lesson leader Ina Young gave an interesting lesson on "Woman Suffrage in Pioneer Days." She had several of the daughters wear banners depicting the right to vote and the emancipation of women. THE WOMEN of Utah received the right to vote in 1870, being the first women in the United States to have this right. Chorister Donna Nielson Niel-son led the daughters in singing sing-ing pioneer song "Where There's A Will There's A Way." Refreshments with a valentine valen-tine theme were served by hostesses LaVon Shirley and Yvonne Roberson. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Wednes-day, March 9 at the home of Nedra Mohlman with Ina Young and Lois Oakes as hostesses. Lesson leader Marilyn Bennett will present a lesson on the life of the late Kate Carter. |
