Freeman advised the wmmittees to meet at least wice before the next EMS ' Council meeting on March 17. "We need fast action and recommendations should be made quickly," he said. Richard Abbott of the State Paramedics Advisory Board said the state board would be available to provide help in writing the proposal and could provide plans that had been written by other counties. DR. FREEMAN said the committees could also have access to plans from paramedic programs in Michigan that EMS subcommittee subcom-mittee visited before coming up with the initial plan. The council unanimously elected Mr. Holman vice chairman of the council. He will take over as chairman of the council in June 1978. DR. FREEMAN reported to the council that the Davis Medical Society has approved the basic paramedic proposal on Feb. 9. He said, "Their support is important since the paramedic proposal will put an emergency room out on the road." At this point the Medical Society has had little input into the EMS program. Dr. Freeman advised the committee that any information informa-tion on the paramedic plan should come directly from the council itself. Members of the council should not speak individually, in-dividually, he said. THREE DAVIS deputies will enter the next session of the paramedics training program to begin in March at Weber State College. Three deputies are currently finishing up the paramedics course there. The state board approved the training program for the deputies. It will provide initial manpower for the paramedics program which is planned to begin late this year. |
