Author of the billboard mes-sifc mes-sifc is Tom Hew itson. a long-and long-and very close friend of yn. Tom works for Galaxy nCo. and is a top-notch bill-kvird bill-kvird sign painter. ii IT WAS Tom's idea to paint i he sign; his way of wishing Joan a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. "1 had to talk my boss into letting me use the billboard for the message and I'm glad he agreed," said Tom, noting that the sign will remain through the holiday season and into early January. "I was so excited that I couldn't stop screaming," said Joan. "Tom picked me up from work at Utah Power and Light Co. and drove me to the sign. "Then as I stood there and watched, he painted the last two words, 'Love, Tom.' I was so excited that I cned." THE TWO have known each other for several years and have been dating steady for the past four months. But the dating w ill come to a tern- porary end soon as Tom has accepted an LDS mission call to serve in London. England. He leaves Jan. 29. Joan's cousin introduced the two several years ago but Joan and Tom have remained good friends through the years. Tom attended West High School and Jonn graduated gradu-ated from Yicv.mont High. "IT WASN'T until the end of August that we became serious se-rious about e.ich other and novy he's going on a two year mission." said Joan "We're very close friends and I admire him for doing something like this." Asked w hat the future might bring. Joan hesitated belorc answering. "That's hard lo say . All 1 can say is th.U right now we are verv close friends and I horc thjt never changes."
