" " ' :VC il f 1 RETIRING Be Woods Cross Post Of-fce, Of-fce, which has been the hub the community since its BOblishment, is going to be ; bbius two familiar faces this Friday, with the retirement of iwo women clerks. JEAN BROWN AND Edith Deppe have chosen identical I retirement dates, and will begin a somewhat different schedule on Monday morning than they have in the past. Mrs. Brown has been an of-' of-' See clerk since 1950 and Mrs. Deppe began her post office ureer in 1962. Needless to ay, the general public is gong go-ng to miss the friendly exchange of daily comments siih these women, and hope hey will be active in civic and public activities so their Iriendship can continue. MRS. BROWN began working at the post office during the Christmas rush of 1&50 for one week. In February of 1951 she was asked to work as a substitute ."rare day each week, and .ications for ''two other nployees. On Nov. 1, 1962 she was appointed ap-pointed a full time clerk with Ray M. Wettstein as postmaster. post-master. He retired in May 1975. So, what began as one week of service with the post office turned out to be 25 years of employment. MRS. BROWN states "I have enjoyed post office work, the people 1 work with and especially the people I served and the friends I had the opportunity op-portunity to make. 1 will truly miss the friendly folks who dropped in and made life seem so worthwhile." Mrs. Brown was married to Martin A. Brown, who died March of 1974. She is the mother of three sons, Robert M., an electrical engineer residing in Woodbridge, Va. ; Robert M., a drafting engineer, en-gineer, residing in Salt Lake City; and Roger A. Brown, commercial recording, owner and operator of Sound Ideas, , who also resides in Salt Laker City. She also has 1L grandchildren. NOW THAT retirement is here, Mrs. Brown hopes to spend more time with her hobbies of handwork, sewing, reading and gardening. She has been an active member of the Woods Cross Third Ward and plans to continue in that service. She also serves as a hostess at Beehive House. Mrs. Brown is looking forward for-ward to more time at the family cabin in the pines, and plans to spend time with friends, family and her grandchildren. Now that the time is available, she plans to visit in Virginia with Robert and his family as often as possible. EDITH DEPPE is a long time West Bountiful resident, residing at 582 W. 10th North. She is married to Earl Deppe and is the mother of two, a son, E. DeVan Deppe and a daughter Joy Lynn Deppe. DeVan is in his second year of law school at Brigham Young University, He resides in Provo with his wife Bonita and five children, Kevin, Keith, Carla, Brian and Erin. Joy Lyn is serving in the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission, Mis-sion, presently living in Hialeah, Fla., MRS. DEPPE became that familiar figure at the Woods Cross Post Office as a sub clerk on Nov. 2, 1962. Since May 18, 1976 she has also worked as a sub clerk at the North Salt Lake Post Office. Now that she has chosen to retire, she plans to continue her hobbies of reading, crocheting, sewing and also plans to knit. THESE TWO ladies will certainly be missed by the steady customers of Woods Cross and West Bountiful, but wish them well in their new endeavors, rsp |
