Mrs. Michael Gines (Joan) of 1407 North 675 West, West Bountiful, was recently honored as the "Utah Jaycee Wife of the Year" at the annual state convention held in Salt Lake City. THE AWARD is based on the individual's support and service ser-vice to her spouse, local and state Jaycees and auxiliaries, family and community. Joan and her husband Mike have been Bountiful Jaycees for five years. During 1976-77 Joan was serving as vice president until January when it became necessary for her to serve as president. JOAN'S responsibilities increased immensely and her support and service were increased two-fold as her husband hus-band was serving as president for the Bountiful Jaycees. Through their team effort, the chapters made great strides to promote the JayceeJaycette concept of personal growth through community com-munity service. JOAN'S proudest accomplishments ac-complishments during the year included a Jaycee auxiliary au-xiliary project focusing on the family in accordance with recent efforts to make the Jaycee organization the greatest grea-test family organization in the nation. Through planning and or-t or-t ganization, she and her , various committees had one activity a month involving the Jaycee families. When this project was submitted to state competition, she was awarded "Project of the Year." JOAN WAS also instrumental instrumen-tal in gathering and delivering toys to the children's ward of Lakeview Hospital. After the auxiliary had delivered the toys, Joan's satisfield smile radiated the warmth all of the members felt to have seen the happy faces of the children. Joan is a wife, mother of an active five-year-old named Bret and working girl at Walker Bank and Trust. She and her family spend their spare time decorating and furnishing their new home. THE Bountiful Jaycee auxiliary au-xiliary is very proud of Joan and the recognition she has received. She is the third Bountiful Jaycee auxiliary member to receive this distinguished distin-guished award. Others so honored were Judith Callicotte, 1971-72 and Louise Tate, 1974-75. |
