Show Boyimtio.ffyll By BERTHA L. MUIR 295-3742 The Forsyth family reunion was held on August 13 and 14 at Lagoon. Many family members from South America, Europe and the U.S.A. were in attendance. Mrs. Florence Mercer was the only grandchild of the originial Forsyth family present. All others were great-grandchildren and their mates. Florence has had many members of her family visiting visit-ing in her home the past three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jean Mercer and family of Virginia, Vir-ginia, Dick Mercer of California, Califor-nia, Mr. and Mrs. Kaye Mercer and family of Provo. Maxine Mercer White and family from Ogden. Forty of the Florence Mercer family attended the Forsyth reunion at Lagoon. Mr. and Mrs. Vard Dalley of Layton were Bountiful visitors Monday evening. According to Dr. Max Raf-ferty Raf-ferty special feature writer, "Violence stands out paramount today as the illness that grips the entire world. This violence has great power over all the people of the world. Violence hurls everyone involved not only the receiver but the giver. " According to Dr. Rafferty we just can't afford the luxuries of violence any longer. Not if we want to remain a people at all. Dr. Rafferty is Superintendent of Public Instruction in California. Califor-nia. Mrs. Neva Henderson has been reappointed as chairman of Volunteer Service, for the Golden Spike Chapter of the American Red Cross. Her appointment ap-pointment was made by Mrs. Janet Boyer, Western Area Chairman of Volunteers. South Davis is served by the Golden Spike Division. Monday is Labor Day it is another day to fly the American flag. On September 17, Constitution Day the flag should be flown again. On October 12 it will be Columbus Day and October 27 it is Navy Day. Mrs. Trowbridge was chairman chair-man of an open house for Mrs. Edith Bonner who was elected Western Division Vice President from Utah. Mrs. Paul Brown of Idaho was elected to the office of national president for the auxilliary. Most of the new national officers of-ficers for the year 1976-78 are from the west. There were 92 delegates from Utah in attendance. |
