Wealthier people had slate floors ' which would get slippery in the winter when they were wet. To solve this problem thresh was spread on the floor to help people keep their footing. As winter would wear on, fresh thresh would be added to the floor. Eventually, the thresh would move when the door was opened, therefore a piece of wood was placed in the entry. Hence a "threshhold." pTic Toll free: 1-888-22SMITH fiYTRAl)tfY Bob cloward Kevin Lyman, O'APR, 0AC .
