Nearly books can be found on the otherwise nearly-bar- e shelves of the library at the new Bennion junior high as the result of a ninth grade service project. The paperback books were gathered through the efforts of students at the school following an all-ocampaign directed by ninth grade officers. Wouldnt it be nice to do something for the school instead of just giving an assembly or program? mused Dale Johnson, ninth grade adviser. With the enthusiastic backing of Shane Player, Laurie Huston and Kim Dawes, ninth grade officers and members of the ninth grade class, the plans for a paperback book drive became 750 a s ALL YOUR FILM AND PHOTO NEEDS KODAK, POLAROID, SAFEWAY'S OWN FILM, BATTERIES, FLASH, CAMERAS, PHOTO ALBUMS, ACCESSORIES AND DEVELOPING ... ARE AVAILABLE AT SAFEWAY! DROP IT OFF WHEN YOU SHOP. ..PICK IT UP ON YOUR NEXT STOP. reality. We began advertising on posters in the announcements halls, over the public address system and in the school Mr. Johnson paper, continued. The drive lasted three days the first part of December. Books were brought in before school and during lunch time. For each book, the donor student was given one ticket. These were added up to be used at a pizza party held at the conclusion of the drive. To! others its a trip to California or wherever, but to most of the students, it just means a vacation from their regular school work and a break from the regular school day. After the program they had lunch in our home economics department. Approximately 40 senior citizens participated. The student body officer would like to thank roundtable and student council members for helping us make the day a success. Our g was very successful. Thanks to the students and teachers who with yearbook page deadlines, which the staff is diligently working on even up through today, selected winter teams are working out on both Saturdays and weekdays in order to keep up their stamina. Theres been lots of kissin under the mistletoe and scads of relatives who come and go. And Santa has left his great surprises to suit everyone of all shapes and sizes. Some naughty Cougars received only coal, but others got gifts to gladden their souls.
