V I 1 I sentiments of the many who were I present at t1P institution of Ester lodge No 8 on last Tuesday that all fears for the success of another body of Rebekahs in our midst may be thrown to the breezes for a happier and more auspicious starting out in life of a new lodge it would be hard to conceive of In connection with the instituting of the lodge may be well considered the advancing spirit o those engaged in Odd Fellowship a regards the throwing open of the portals por-tals of the Rebekah lodges to the I young women of America who are not I connected by relationship with member The great event of the week I was the institution of a new lodge of the I order at Lehl which has been named I Bonneville lodge No 1 Grand Chancellor Chan-cellor Meakin and the other grand officers of-ficers accompanied by a number of members and friends of the order went down to Lehi on Saturday morning forV the purpose of conducting and taking Dart in the institution ceremonies The visitors were received with the utmost cordiality and were made the guests of the city the mayor and other officials turing out to do them honor The insti Lution was successfully performed and then the time was given over to rejoic ine and festivities which were carried far into the night The new lodge starts out under very auspicious auspices and I with a large membership An official visit was paid by the grand lodge officers to Monitor lodge on Wednesday night In anticipation Vof the event there was a large attendance and after the work was done refreshments refresh-ments were served and a pleasant social hour spent The other lodges held their ordinary meetings did a fair amount of degree work and received applications for membership I mem-bership i Iviiiphts of the Mncfjibevn I The Maccabees is one of the great progressive pro-gressive fraternal beneficiary orders of tile United States and Canada I now numbers over 220000 members and its local organizations are found in nearly all of the states and territories o the American Union and in most of the provinces prov-inces of British America Its representative represen-tative came to Salt Lake city In January 1815 > and established a fine tent of the order here and one In Ogden In February Feb-ruary of the same year As the representative repre-sentative of the order with his headquarters head-quarters in this city he now has charge of Utah Nevada Wyoming Idaho Montana Mon-tana New Mexico and Arizona in which territory more than thirty local organizations organi-zations have been effected during the last year with over one thousand members Several state deputies have been appointed ap-pointed and the work or organizing new tents and of recruiting membership of old ones is being pushed rapidly The tent in this city has charge of and is arranging for a grand demonstration demon-stration and excursion to this city during dur-ing the pleasure season of the coming summer From all over the vast region within the territory named above there comes encouraging word of the interest felt by the members in this enterprise At Evanston Wyo at least one hundred members will contribute to the success of the undertaking Nearly all the tents of Montana and most of those of Idaho have sent greetings and kind assurances of cooperation The tent at Mercur is full of life and energy and is preparing fo build a good hal at that thriving camp The quiet which has prevailed at the Park for some time is ominous and It will be strange i in the near future that tent is not heard from In the far south at Albuquerque N 1 an organization will soon be effected and at Laramie Wyo Sir Knight Whiting is at work getting together the requisite number for a tent with every prospect of success The state deputy of Idaho has been detained at one of the interior towns in the northern portion of the state and he Is likely to remain there till tlC heavy srows somewhat disappear In the sprnlg I is thought that a tent will soon be established at Murray Utah by Deputy Supreme Commander Tattersall as a number of the enterprising people of that fair suburban town have applied for membership I A committee of five sir knights has been appointed in Salt Lake Tent No 2 to make arrangements for holding some open meetings for the entertainment of the friends of the order and for the purpose pur-pose of farther acquainting outsiders with its benefits Home Forum The youngest addition to fraernal organizations or-ganizations in Salt Lake city is Home Forum No 60S which held it first social on Thursday evening and demonstrated its ability to vie with older societies by a crowded hall and a very happy gathering gather-ing Songs by the Chamherlin family were Yen good also a recitation by Miss Annie Collett the president Mr Issl and his friend gave the Larboard Watch In line style While Mrs Wight fairly brought down the house with her ludicrous rendition of a couple of comic sketches which were enough to burst every corset in the house and give the sweeper a good crop of vest buttons Progressive high live followed and held full sway until near midnight when the rul company disbanded full of good wishes for the excellent committee which had given them such a delightful evenings amusement The first ladles prize was gathered in frst by Mrs C J Higson and the second by Mrs E O George The first
