Show Doc Scverinsen I In Arlington, Oregon at age 17, Doc Severinsen started playing the trumpet, the only horn available in the local music store. Now he is best known as the musical director of the Tonight Show," a position he has held since 1967. His mastery of the trumpet in an astonishing variety of styles has led to his being voted Top Brass Instrumentalist no fewer than 10 times in the prestigious Playboy Music Poll. A much-in-demand nightclub star, he also headlines several weeks each year in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He flies all over the country to perform with his fusion group Xebron, and somehow, somewhere, he finds time to be the resident conductor of the Phoenix Pops.
