Show IV.Qy COUNTY FAIR. Iron County Record. Elaborate preparations are being made for the County Fair to open in Cedar City, Sept. 27tb, and continue three days. The large Ward building occupied by the Branch Normal Scbpo1 last winter will be filled With tht ex'hibits, with the exception of the live-stock department, and many arc hard at work preparing specimens in mechanical work and art, or collectinj' deserving agricultural and other pro ducts. At a meeting of the general' Fair Committee, held Sept. 11, Eugene Schoppmann, Charits Nelson and Bessii Parry were appointed as a committee to receive and have charge of all exhibits, ex-hibits, and Pres. U.. T. Jones, Joseph Cosslet t and O. P. W. Bergstrom a com uiitteo to pi pein e so'tahie building? etc., in which to hold the exhibition and the amusements'. All funds collected col-lected from dances, couierts, etc., in' excess to what is required in conducting conduct-ing the Fair will be donated to the Br inch Normal School. Amusements of various kinds, suet-as suet-as horse, foot and bicycle races, will be conducted under the supervision o' uie various committees:. Whitlock o1 Salt Lake City and ''Sleepy John" owned by Andrew Corry of this place, for $500 a side. This race will be rur. Sept. 28th, at 3 o'clock p. m. The secretary of the committee reports re-ports that all the committees are working work-ing industriously, and have entered into in-to the spirit of their labors. Little en thusiam is manifested by the northern nortion of the county, but it is hoped that an interest will be manifested in the exhibition at least from that Ciu-r-ter. At; a meeting of the fair committee on Mechanism it was decided to award first end second prizes fcr the most creditable work in the following branches, and that the first prize should consist of 82.00 cash thc second prize of $1.50 cash, viz: Wa-on work, blacksmithing. painting, carpenter carpen-ter work, tanning, harness work and shocmaking.
