Editor, Washington County News: Seeing your complaint in The News of January 7th of the ''Wretched Mail Service,'' I thought I would speak, In the first place the papers do not lay over in this oiliee, You say you see the mail distributed and placed in the sacks, but vou do not state the day of the week this is done, Mr. Workman complains of not get-ling get-ling his NEWS on Sundays' which never arrives at this olUee until 5:30 or O p. m. Sunday, where, according to mail regulations they lay over until Monday S a. ni. Several times they have not ome to this ofiiee until Monday or later, I also wish to add that the Lee-ds Postmaster has nothing to do wild papers for St, George which come byway by-way of Milford, Respectfully, Postmaster, Leeds. We have seen the mail distributed md the northern mail pJaced in the nail sacks every Saturday since the new schedule went into effect, except last Saturday, the 7th, when the issue was delayed to get the District court report in and it was after 7 p. 111. befote the entire issue was off our press. The northern mail closes here at 2 p. in., and on four occasions only have we missed it. last Saturday being one of them. Yet the Leeds P. M. writes that these papers "NEVER arrives at this j office until 5:30 or 0 p. ra. Sunday." I Strange! Ed. |
