Show FUNERAL SERIES FOR MRSlMAHY HEDIE Hurricane. December 14. 1925. Very impressive funeral services for Sister Mary Reeve, who departed this life Dec. 7, were held Dec. 10. 1925. at the Hurricane school house. Bishop 1. H. Bradshaw presiding. The decorations were profuse and beautiful. Many friends and relatives rela-tives from distant places were in attendance. at-tendance. Singing by the ward choir. Prayer Pray-er by Elder David Spilsbury. Elder Dilworth Snow -rendered a solo. Bishop Bradshaw spoke of the faithful work of the departed in rearing rear-ing her family, also of the honest and industrious life she led. Her best friends were those who best knew her. Elder E. N. Stanworth spoke of his acquaintance with the departed sister; sis-ter; how he appreciated her example before the rising generation. Elder Chauncey Sandberg spoke of the entertainment he had received by the departed; how he appreciated having hav-ing known her, also that he thought we should console ourselves and say she has gone to a happier sphere. He felt that the spirit of Sister Reeve was one of the choicest that ever came and took a body. Elder John A. Sanders felt it an honor to have the privilege of speaking speak-ing a few words in behalf of Sister Reeve. He spoke of the respect she showed to the poor, that she was always al-ways very considerate of them. Bishop David Hirschi related how the beautiful life of Sister Reeve prevented pre-vented him from mourning; he thought Sister Reeve was very richly supplied with good qualities. Spoke of how she and her husband, who had departed before her, stood out and above most cf this generation. Elder Leo A. Snow said that he was quite sure that when the history of Hurricane is written that the names of Bro. and Sister Reeve would be written in; that he was pleased to acknowledge his acquaintance with the departed. Dr. D. A. McGregor gave the cause of her death. He spoke of the many priviledges which God has granted us, yet there are many which are with held from us. Also said that he had formed a wonderful opinion of her. He also rendered a solo that he had composed himself, after the death of the departed. Elder C. B. Petty spoke of the divine di-vine feeling that the solo rendered by Dr. McGregor carried; spoke of the wonderful, widespread respect that Sister Reeve had gained. Elder Petty also spoke of the honesty of one of her sons due to his rearing by his parents, Bro. Petty having been closely close-ly associated with him in business. Choir sang, "Sweet Rest in Heaven." Benediction by Elder James Judd. Interment was made in the city cemetery, the grave being dedicated by Elder Charles Cottam. Obituary Sister Mary Reese was born at Virgin Vir-gin and was about sixty one years of age at the time of her death, Dec. 7. She had passed through much sorrow, sor-row, having buried her husband since coming to Hurricane, also her only daughter Florence, a young lady of beautiful character, and a small son previously. Through it all she. had bravely struggled on with words of cheer for the down cast and always busy and helpful.- She was an earnest ear-nest worker in the ward, especially in the Y. L. M. I. A. She is survived by three sons, Harold, Arvil and Andrew, An-drew, all of this place, and several brothers and sisters. Much sympathy sympa-thy is felt for the bereaved. i |
