Show George W. Worthen Honored By Family In Eightieth Birthday Anniversary George W. Worthen was honored by his family on his eightieth ' birthday anniversary on the eve ning of January 10, several of their children arriving for the ; occasion as a complete surprise to Mr. and Mrs. Worthen. The dinner was held at the home of VuL' Rp. and Mrs. Vernon Worthen. in the early evening. $ Attending from out-of-town were attorney and Mrs. George W. Worthen of Provo; Mr. and ' """ Mrs. Harry Slack and son. George of Toquerville. and Mr. and Mrs. , James Peterson of Cedar Valley. 1.0 Patriarch of the St. George stake for the past 10 years, and alwa;,s active in religious and civic affairs. George W. Worthen has enjoyed his life thus far. he declares. He has filled two missions mis-sions and for many years was re- sponsible for hauling the women ordinance workers to and from the Temple in the old mule-drawn Temple van, and assisted with the Temple gardening. His own garden is always well kept and produc- tive. : Forn of a musical family, he i lias lung been a member of the i S'. George Martial band, and is 'now its leader. He was also a member of the choir and often appeared on public programs with humorous vocal numbers. |
