Runoifson showed the girls all the different items used to protect the firemen while fighting a fire. In full protective gear, Runoifson, looking and sounding like Darth Vadar, had to convince die girls not to be afraid of him. This is very important when trying to find a child in a burning building, as firefighters dont want a child to hide from them. Runoifson and Merrell turned off the lights and demonstrated their hand-hel- d tv camera that allows them to see in a dark room. The girls also learned how to crawl on the floor to get below the smoke to escape a burning building and how to prevent a fire in the first place. They were also cautioned to keep off the street whenever emergency vehicles are responding to a fire. Too often, children run out into the street to get a better look at them. and Thanks to Runoifson Merrell, troop leaders Bobbie White and Brandy Jenkins said, these Girl Scouts are more knowledgeable about the dangers of fire and what to do to keep themselves and others safe. pie eating contest held recently at Uintah Care Center had participating staff members loosening their belts and had observing residents wiping tears of laughter from their faces.
