Show Gabriel Mayberry, an old man, aged about 60 years, who has been demented for a number of years, attempted suicide on Wednesday last, by cutting his throat with an ax which he had sharpened with sand. The interior thyroid artery of the windpipe was severely injured causing great exhaustion of the lungs. Dr. Olsten, of Richmond, was summoned and sewed up the wounds. The probabilities are that the man will recover, if he can be prevented from reopening the wound. W. L. Webster & Son have erected a substantial store with stone, obtained from the Temple quarry. It is 30 X 60 feet and 34 feet high. These gentlemen are doing a thriving trade and possess the right kind of push necessary to build up a growing town. |
