Show Is Creeping in Apace Upon us - A Foundling - What Next? On the train from the south that reached Logan at 10 p.m. last Friday evening was a woman who had a babe in her arms. She reached the Logan House about two hours after the train arrived and took a room. She remained in the hotel until about three o'clock in the morning, when she left it. She was not idle during these three hours, leaving, in that time, managed to steal a considerable sum of money from Tom Connor. She also robbed Alex Finnell of a watch and chain. The same woman was observed to take the south bound passenger which leaves Logan at 4:25 a.m. minus the infant she had brought with her. Early on Saturday morning an infant about six weeks old, was picked up on the door step of a highly respectable family. There was no clue as to how it came there, and the surprises usual in such cases were accepted as facts. The infant was cared for and subsequently taken by a kind hearted lady to rear. Several ladies have expressed their willingness to take the little stranger to rear as their own. The discovery of the foundling, the robberies committed by the strange woman, and her departure from town minus the babe which she brought with her a few hours before, were circumstances easily connected by others. A dispatch for her arrest at Ogden did not reach the officers there until she had departed on the connecting train for Salt Lake. This strange woman during her flying trip to our town, put in her time to good advantage, having got rid of a baby, and taken away in its stead a considerable sum of money and a watch and chain. |
