Show Editor Journal: - In a former communication I stated that Mr. John Hendry, for many years the Superintendent of the Wellsville Co-operative Institution, on account of ill health, was obliged to retire from the active duties of his calling, and now I am sorry to have to tell you that after all that could have been done for him, he gradually sank until at last death relieved him from further suffering. He died as he had lived, full of faith. Bro. (Brother) Hendry was the first counselor to Bishop Wm. (William) H. Maughan to whom he was much endeared. His family have lost in him a kind husband and father and the community a faithful brother and friend. "Peace to his ashes." Brother John Hendry was born on the 30th day of Sept. (September), 1830 at Forth, Lenarkshire, Scotland. Died at Wellsville, Sept. (September) 26th 1882, aged 51 years, 11 months and 20 days. T. B. Wellsville, Oct. (October) 11th, 1882. |
