Show DRIB OIESJN CALIF. FORMER DUCHESNE EDITOR DIES AT HOME IN CALIFORNIA Dr. M. Markus, one time publisher pub-lisher of this paper, then known as the Duchesne Record, died at his residence at Southgate, California, Cali-fornia, at 3:05 a. m. Wednesday, following a heart attack. At the time of his death he was editor and co-publisher of the Southgate Press. After a varied career in Journalism, Journal-ism, both in the "United States and abroad, Dr. Marcus purchased the Duchesne Record in 1918, and published pub-lished it through the balance of that year and 1919. He left here in January 1920 and went to Richfield, where ho published the Richfield Reaper, until March 1930, since when he has remained in Richfield teaching languages until this spring when he purchased pur-chased an interest in the South-gate South-gate Press. He was president of the Utah State Press association in 1928 and 1929 and was made an honorary honor-ary life member of that organization organiz-ation in 1932. Surviving are four daughters and two grandsons. In accordance with his request his body will be returned to Richfield to be buried besides his wife who died there on September 13, 1921. Funeral services will be under the direction of the Masonic Lodge. |
