Police Department Offers New Service to the Public On August 2 the Pleasant Grove Police Department an- - nounced a new service to al-low members of the public to provide anonymous tips to law enforcement. The service, called Tip-Sof- t, was recently announced by Attorney General Mark " Shurtleff as a statewide ini-tiative involving more than 50 law enforcement agen-cies throughout the State of Utah. Starting today, citizens can submit anonymous tips to Pleasant Grove Police through the Web, smartphone app, or by sending a text message to "CRIMES" (274637) with the keyword PGPDTip. "The widespread use of text messaging makes it easy for the public to help law enforcement agencies fight crime," said Pleas-ant Grove Police Chief Tom Paul. "And with TipSoft, they can know that it's safe for them to do the right thing without ever disclosing their identity. TipSoft, which is made by Draper-base- d CrimeReports, allows agencies and members of the public to exchange mes-sages back and forth through a completely secure and anony-mous channel. "With the launch of Tip-Sof- t, the Pleasant Grove Police Department is demonstrating its commitment to protect ing the community," said Greg Whisenant, founder and CEO of CrimeReports. "Members of the public often have infor-mation that can help prevent or solve a crime. This tool gives them a safe way to share it with authorities." Since launching its mobile capabilities in 2009, TipSoft has received more than two mil-lion tips, 145,000 arrests have been made, 55,000 fugitives caught, more than $5.3 billion recovered in drugs and property, 11,000 vehicles recovered, and 22,000 weapons recovered. Citizens are encouraged to use TipSoft to report informa-tion about any non-urge- nt il legal activity, such as unsolved crimes, vandalism, theft, the sale and distribution of drugs or information about crimes that are being planned in the com-munity or in schools. CrimeReports.com creates powerful, simple, and afford-able cloud-base- d software tools for law enforcement agencies to prevent and reduce crime. Working directly with more than 2,000 agencies throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, CrimeRe-ports is a key partner to law en-forcement in mapping, analytics and anonymous tipping.
