Show Services Held Wednesday For Ralph E. Hawks Ralph Erwin Hawks, 75, died Oct. 19 in the L.D.S. Hospital, Salt Lake City, following a short illness. Mr. Hawks was known as one of the greatest hunters and fishermen in this area. Among his other interests, he enjoyed traveling, playing the harmonica and singing. He was a dedicated family man, and also served in various capacities in the L. D. S. Church. Born Nov. 17. 1899 in Orangeville to John Willis and Mahalia Turnbovv Hawks, he moved with his family to Moab at the age of 5. He served in the military during World War I and married Elsie Edwards on Dec. 25, 1925 in Monticello. They would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Anniv-ersary this Christmas Day. They moved to Florence, Colo., in 1926, and he worked with U-tex Oil Company 40 years, retiring in January of 1967 as supervisor. The Haw ks family moved back to Moab in 1954 at the beginning of the Uranium Boom. Part of a tribute written to him when he retired read: "He has clever hands, and he puts them to work, and what the hands start, the man does not shirk. He gives to his job all that he can, a very remarkable kind of a man. One in a million, a man truly rare, loyal, steadfast, who does more than his share." Survivors include his wife; -T sons and daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Betty) Dravage. Moab; Mrs. Nedra Hynek and Bill Haw ks, both of Houston, Tex.; ;-. Byron Hawks, Borger, Tex.; 16 grandchildren; 4 great- ;-. grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. C Tony (Gwen) Trentler. Las Vegas, Nev.; and a brother. "-. Lynn Hawks, Moab. X Funeral services were held X Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. in the L.D.S. X Chapel, Bishop Fred Noves X presiding, and burial was in ; Sunset Memorial Cemetery v-under v-under the direction of Grand -.'
