Show Former Moabife Buried in Los Angeles Funeral services for George Ralph Stocks, who passed away at Balboa Military Hospital in San Diego, California, Cal-ifornia, on Oct. 15, of natural natur-al causes, were on Oct. 20 at the Military' Cemetery, Sawtelle, Los Angeles, California. Cal-ifornia. Mr. Stocks was born- in Moab on August 13, 1905, and attended- school both in Moab and LaSal. He and his parents moved to Paradox, Colorado in 1919 and he continued con-tinued his education there. , In 1924 he was married to , Ethel Waggoner who preceded preced-ed him in- death, having died in 1936, leaving three small children. In 1938, he was . married to Louise Waggoner; Waggon-er; to this union a daughter was born. Mr. Stocks will be remembered remem-bered by many friends and relatives in and around Moab, Mo-ab, LaSal and Paradox. He and his wife, Ethel, played for most of the dances in that area until the time of her demise. He served as pharmacist mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II and after the war owned and operated numerous health resorts throughout the country. coun-try. He is survived by a son Lloyd Stocks, McMinnville, Oregon; a brother, Robert M. Stocks, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Alma) (Al-ma) Ikeler, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Ken (Elaine) (El-aine) Mattingly, Carbondale, Colo. Also surviving are one sister, Thelma Taylor, Salt Lake City; and twelve grand children. A son, Roy Stocks preceded him in death in a logging accident in 1965. |
