Show DEATH mm MISS LETA MOAB YOUNG LADY DAUGHTER OF MR AND MRS ANDREW A TAYLOR DIES OF STROKE miss leta taylor 23 years of age youngest daughter of mr and mrs andrew A taylor of moab died friday evening following a days illness as the result of a sudden stroke of apoplexy which she sustained thursday miss taylor was stricken when she was returning to moab with her brother norman from castleton where she had spent the summer with her parents when they reached the spring just above the colorado river bridge she alighted from the wagon to get a drink of water her brother noticed that she was reeling and he jumped out to assist her she was unconscious and efforts to revive her proved unavailing she was then rushed to the grand county hospital but could be done to allay ivr iv r condet en and death came friday evening miss taylor had been in rather poor health for several years but tor some time past had seemed to be improving shortly before she was she seemed to be in good spirits and had been laughing and talking funeral services were held sunday afternoon from the L D S chapel one of the largest gatherings ever noted at a funeral in moab was present and there were many beautiful floral tributes the opening prayer was offered by george A nereu the first speaker was W R mcconkle who told of the part the oung ladys family had played in the colonization of utah her grandfather he was was one of the first men to settle in the state and his sons were among the first to come to southeastern utah the speaker praised the young lady for her many fine traits of character and offered cords of comfort to the sorrowing relatives C A robertson spoke of lotas work in the moab schools he said she had been an industrious student graduating with honors from the local high school and then had attended tt ended ax ollege tor a year to equen herself for a business career the speaker mentioned the great tenderness and sympathy that Is felt by the community for the bereaved parents and relatives who have been called on to bear more than their share of sorrow bishop W D hammond was the concluding speaker confining his remarks to the hope of a hereafter and offering convincing proof of the certainty of a day of resurrection several hymns were rendered by the choir during the services the benediction was pronounced by heed somerville at the cemetery the grave was dedicated by J H johnson and the choir sang god be with you till we meet again miss leta taylor was bom october 8 1905 at moab and was the youngest daughter of mr and mrs andrew A taylor in addition to her parents she Is survived by three brothers and three sisters who are bulard taylor of devler utah norman and nell taylor of moab mrs durana bangham of salt lake city mrs gussie christensen Chrls of moab and mrs ada harris of salt lake city AU of the brothers and sisters were present at the funeral except wallard Wll lard who was in the mountains in devler county and could not be reached in time leta grew to womanhood in moab spending her entire lifetime here she graduated from the grand county high school with the class of 1927 and then attended a business college at grand junction tor a year she was popular with her classmates and took an active part in student affairs all who knew her held her in deep respect and affection and her sudden and untimely death was a keen shock to hundreds of friends the sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved parents and relatives in their hour of sorrow |
