Ottesen was hostess l0 'members of the Second ward M Men and Gleaners at their regular reg-ular monthly fireside chat at her tome Sunday evening after sacrament sac-rament meeting. Miss Merlene Tew, stake supervisor super-visor and recently returned missionary, mis-sionary, spoke on "The Value of a Testimony," and Dr. Ottesen showed a number of picture slides. Miss Tess Cherrington also en-1 tertalned with vocal solos, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Bell Thomas at the piano. SHOWER HONORS RECENT BRDDB Mrs. Mark Whiting (the former lone Nielson) was guest of honor at a shower held Friday night at the home of Mrs. John Whiting. Entertainment for the evening was a book review given by Mrs. Howard Maycock, after which refreshments re-freshments were served to approximately ap-proximately forty-five guests. Many beautiful and useful gifts were presented to the bride during dur-ing the evening. The young couple have gone to Ogden to make their home. It Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Miss Norma Nor-ma Maland, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Wm. H. Maland. to Nile Cowan of Payson, which took place Monday, November 11 at Provo. ' In honor ot the young couple a party was given at the home of the bride's parents, with approximately approxi-mately thirty friends and relatives attending. Games were played and many lovely gifts presented to the young couple. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed in conclusion. The young couple have left for Southern Utah, where they will make their home. ROOD CLUB ENTERTAINED BY DOROTHY LONG Miss Dorothy Long was hostess to members of the Bood club at her home Friday evening. Dinner was served early in the evening, after which games were played with prize for high score going to Enid Ewing. Present were the Misses Vera Bartholomew, Betty Anderson, Maurine Francis, LaDean Bulkley, Lillian Ostler, Gladys Weight, Lenorel Billings, Shirley Wheeler! Eulalia Shoemaker, Dorothy Long, and Tawna Holt. LADIES LITERARY CLUB ENTERTAINED Members of the Ladies' Literary club were entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. A. E. Jacobsen. At 7:30 o'clock a delicious luncheon was served to eighteen club members and one guest. Later La-ter a delightful program was given giv-en with Mrs. Paul Thorn, president, presi-dent, in charge. Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion entertained enter-tained with two piano selections and Mrs. F. C. Packard gave two vocal numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Sumsion. A review of the book, "Dor-thea," "Dor-thea," was given In an interesting interest-ing manner by Mrs. Rhea Straw. The story was later discussed by the group. President Thorn announced the next club meeting for November 28th. |
