Mr. Pierce was born in Springville, Spring-ville, September 9, 1861, and has lived here practically all his life. He has assisted with construction of many homes, churches, and other public buildings and retired only a few years ago. He has always been active in church affairs, having served as a teacher for 15' years, and is now a high priest. He has five sons and daughters: Stanley Pierce, Spanish Fork; Mrs. J. F. Hales, Salt Lake Citv: Mrs. A BRED AX, SHOWER I WAS GIVEN LAST WEEK for Mrs. Kay Mendenhall, the former for-mer Kathlyne Metcalf, by her; aunts at the home of Mrs. Creed' Harmer. I Mrs. Helen Thorpe reviewed the book, "A Little Lower Than the Angels," written by her sister, ' Mrs. Virginia Sorenson. A tasty luncheon was served and the guest of honor opened her many lovely gifts. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Retta Harmer, Mrs. Jessie Wadley of Pleasant Grove, Mrs. Matt Crandall, Mrs. Hilton Robertson Robert-son of Provo, Mrs. Leo Robertson, Mrs. Heber Houtz, and Mrs. Bernard Ber-nard Robertson. Wendell Perkins, Smithfield; Clifford Clif-ford Pierce, with the armed forces in California, and Mrs. Art Heavener Hea-vener of Springville. Also in celebration of the occasion, oc-casion, Mr. Pierce was taken by N Mr. and Mrs. Heavener on a visit to Smithfield, Logan, and Salt Lake City during the week-end. . THE CARLYLE GRAND ALLS GAVE A DINNER FRD3AY evening at their home in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Sargent L. Rice, following fol-lowing their marriage in the Salt Lake temple. The dining table was centered with a beautiful centerpiece of pink asters with tapers in corresponding corres-ponding colors. Covers were arranged for Mr. and Mrs. Rice, Mrs. Erma Gudmundson, Gud-mundson, Mrs. Dan Clark of Cedar Ce-dar City, Barbara Gudmundson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Crandall of Provo, Bernice Trisler of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Eva Crandall, and the host and hostess and family. |
