Revoir, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Diane to Bart Papworth son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis F. Papworth, Springville, on January 19. A reception will honor the couple that same evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Mapleton 1st., 4th., 5th. Ward Cultural Hall. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Attending the bride as maid of honor will be Jamie Jenkins with Tina Jensen, Denise and Susann Revoir as bridesmaids and Mary and Becky Revoir as flower girls. Best man duties will be performed by Danny Woolsey and Rick Roberts. Pre nupital showers were given by Terese, Denise and Susann Revoir, and By Tina Jensen and Mandy Dalwalder. Special guests will be Mrs. Dorothy Riding grandmother of the bride and Mrs. Nora Papworth grandmother of the bridegroom The couple will make their first home in Mapleton. Nominations open for young mother of year Annually in each state, as officially appointed Selection Committee announces the Young Mother of the Year. Feburary 1, 1979 is the deadline for nominees who wish to be considered as the Young Mother of the Year for Utah. Nomination forms are available to recognize outstanding, family oriented young mothers. We encourage the widest possible participation in the recognition of talented young mothers. Young mothers of pre-school children feel these pressures keenly. The Y.M.C.S. program is planned to support and enrich the daily meaning of home and family life. The purpose of the National Y. M.C.S. is to provide a program with resource helps for the enrichment of family life, especially planned for families with young children. Membership is open to all mothers of young children. Annual dues of $3 include the subsidized cost of a study guide. The Y.M.C.S. encourages en-courages small informal local study groups' statewide as well as national conferences on family life and recognition of talented young mothers. educator Education at its best was the theme of the evening when members of Pari Passu met at the home of Dorothy Hazel for their January meeting. President Anna Marie Palfreyman was in charge and after a short business meeting introduced in-troduced Ray Harrison, elementary school teacher, who addressed the subject, "Grappling With Gifted." Mr. Harrison pointed up the study and growth in this area. He also very capably demonstrated methods of stimulating minds to greater productivity. To further illustrate ways to stir minds to creative thinking he used slide movies which were made by his fourth grade students, using their own ideas. Refreshments were served to members and guest. Anna Marie Palfreyman was assisting hostess. Companions to meet tonight The Companion's Club enjoyed a very lovely Christmas evening at the home of Joy Gledhill on December 14 and are now preparing their programs for this new year. Tonights meeting will be at the home of Evelyn Robbins. The theme for the year "We are shaped and fashioned by what we love" - von Goethe, will continue with Naomi Sumsion presenting "Love of Self," which will include caring for one's own basic needs.' All friends and relatives are invited to call between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. No formal invitations are being sent. weddings VFW president slates visit Teresa Chesnut Mrs. LaVelle Peterson, State President to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will host the National President Arlene McDermott for her official visitation to Utah January 13-16, 1979. Mrs. Peterson resides at Tremonton, Utah and is a member of the Brigham City Post 1695 Auxiliary. Mrs. McDermott will be escorted to the Veterans Administration Hospital, Question and Answers Session at Atomic Post 4355 at Salt Lake City, Utah. Also, she will be meeting State, City and other dignitaries. The purpose of Mrs. McDermott's visit to Utah is to inform the members of the importance im-portance of the programs set up by the National Organization. Mrs. McDermott will be representing over 600,000 members. Some of the programs she will be emphazing are Veterans' Legislation which will help establish new gains in Veterans' Administration benefits for veterans, their families and survivors. Also, she will en courage members to participate in Community Servicessuch as volunteering in hospitals, nursing homes, assisting elderly and handicapped, working with young children in headstart and all through high school, and whenever possible to give a helping hand. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary has a great interest in Cancer Aid and Research. They have contributed almost one and half million dollars ($1,371,194.75) to ease financial burdens for stricken members and to aid researchers in finding cancer causes and cures.
