Show Lloyd Vhitehead services today; dies in pomf-of-mountain crash Lloyd Whitehead, victim of head-on crash in blinding rain at point-of-mountain. Lloyd Whitehead, 64, became the second Springville man to lose his life in an accident within with-in the past week, when he was killed in a two car broadside collision July 22, 1968 on the rain-slick U.S. Highway 91 at the point of the mountain at 4:45 p.m. Clarence Deeben died earlier at Geneva Steel in an industrial accident. Services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Third-Ninth Ward for Mr. Whitehead .directed by Bishop Harold Whiting of the Third Ward. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary, Springville Spring-ville until 12:45. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Whitehead, who was returning re-turning from work in Salt Lake ran into a blinding rain storm which resulted in two cars traveling tra-veling in opposite directions to collide head on. Lloyd Whitehead was born in Provo August 12, 1903, the son of William and Mary Alice Barkdull Whitehead. He received receiv-ed his education in the Springville Spring-ville schools and was a graduate gradu-ate of Springville High School. He also attended the Utah State University at Logan. He married Tressia R. Malm-strom Malm-strom in Nephi March 29,' 1927. Following their marriage they made their home in Salt Lake City where he was employed as a supervisor for the Salt Lake and Utah Railroad and a mechanic me-chanic for Utah Central Truck Lines. They returned to Springville Spring-ville in 1947. He worked for Thorn Rock Products for 5 years and for the past 20 years had been employed em-ployed by the G.M. Truck and Coach Division of General Motors Mo-tors in Salt Lake where he was a diesel mechanic. He was a member of Tent No. 2, Salt Lake City Macabees and served as commander for four years. An active bowler, Mr. Whitehead was associated with the Springville Men's Bowling Association and bowled bowl-ed in leagues weekly. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his wife and one daughter: Mrs. Grant (LaRue) Mortensen, Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, four brothers an da sister: Grant Whitehead, Springville; Clifton, Salt. Lake iCty; William, Bluebell, Blue-bell, Duchesne County; James M., Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Golden Smith, Springville. |
