Show Funeral Services Today for Former Resident Mrs. Violet Durfee Ivie, 79, died at 7 p.m. Sunday at the home of her son, Otto Ivie, in Springville. She was born June 29, 1873, in Springville, the daughter of Jabez and Clestia Curtis Durfee. With her parents she moved to Aurora, Sevier county, as a young girl, and received her education there. She was married to Calvert Mil-ton Mil-ton Ivie Nov. 25, 1892, in Richfield. They later received their endowments endow-ments in the Manti LDS temple. They made their home in Aurora, and in 1930 moved to Provo. Mr. Ivie there followed road construction construc-tion work until 1936, when he retired. re-tired. The family then moved to Lyn-dyll, Lyn-dyll, near Delta, and made its home there until 1947 when they moved to Orem. Mr. Ivie died April 8, 1951, and Mrs. Ivie made her home with her son, Golden L. Ivie of Orem, since. She was an active LDS worker, serving as Relief Society teacher for over 40 years. She directed the- efforts of Relief Society teachers in Aurora for 12 years. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, Wilford B. and Otto V. Ivie, both of Springville; Golden L. (Lucille) Nielson, Lyndyll, and Mrs. Arthur (Birdella) Corcoran, Cor-coran, Junction City, Kansas; 37 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Cliloe Spencer Spen-cer of Aurora. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Berg Drawing Room chapel. Burial will be in the Provo City cemetery. |
