Show Returns From Mother's Funeral Mrs. Frank Bjarnson of this city has just returned from Penrose, Pen-rose, Wyq., where she was called by the sudden death of her mother, moth-er, Mrs. Ed. W. Jones, which occurred oc-curred May 16 at the family residence. resi-dence. She was 64 years old. The Jones family, old-time residents resi-dents of Penrose, have resided for the past four years in the heart of the Byron oil fields on the river bottom lands of the old Jones homestead, south of Byron. It is on this ranch that an uncontrolled un-controlled gas well is now burning. burn-ing. Mrs. Jones died in a home so close to this roaring outburst of flaming gas, visible for miles up and down the valley, that it seems to be in their back yard, and hundreds of tourists come to see the well daily. Mrs. Jones was one of the hard working L. D. S. settlers about Bvron and Penrose. All her life she has be"en of the Mormon faith. The news of her sudden death came as a shock to her many friends throughout that valley. Mr. Jones, her husband, was the discoverer of gas in the river bottom bot-tom lands south of Byron, and this discovery led to the development of a successful oil industry in that vicinity. Besides her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by eight sons and daughters, and 14 grandchildren. |
