Rebecca Johnson is the daughter of Donna and Scott Terry and Joel and Amy Johnson. This Utah Valley University freshman is promoting her platform ''Beautifying Our Community: Healthy Living and a Clean Environment." Namon Bills EDITOR Silver was the"color of choice at a luncheon hosted by the Spanish Fork Rodeo Committee at the High Chaparral room of the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds Wednesday, Feb. 24. The occasion was the announcement by committee member Steven Money that Spanish Fork's Fiesta Days Rodeo has officially joined the Wrangler Million Dollar Tour as a Silver Tour Rodeo. He also announced a new $20,000 presenter, Mountain View Hospital. Money thanked sponsors and honored special guests in attendance, in- cluding the Spanish Fork mayor and city council; County Commissioners Gary Anderson and Larry Ellertson; local rodeo pros Jessy Davis, Wes Silcox and Steve Woolsey; and pro rodeo entertainer Troy Lerwill, a.k.a. SF resident named national EMT of year Marilyn Nielson STAFF W R I T E R Barbara Peterson Simpson of Spanish Fork has been named National EMT of the Year. She was nominated by Utah's chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for the award. Simpson began her experiences in the medical field in college, where she studied nursing at BYU and worked at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. When she and her husband moved to Idaho, she found that she could no longer continue her nursing studies, since Ricks College only had a two-year instead of a four-year nursing program. lt I was working at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, so I took an EMT course there, and became certified," Simpson said. "When we moved back to Utah, I continued with EMT work as I started working for Spanish Fork Ambulance." Over the years, Simpson and her husband became See EMT • A6 Namon Bills / The Sentinel IN A FLASH: On Saturday, Feb. 27, Spanish Fork Mayor Wayne Andersen was invited to do the ceremonial tipoff for the Utah Flash as they took on the LA D-Fenders in the McKay Events Center at UVU. The Flash did not disappoint the home crowd, winning a thrilling overtime contest, 126-124. Final Week This is the final week for our best of area survey, on B5 in this week's paper. Completed surveys are due to J-Mart Printing, 280 North Main St., Spanish Fork, by 6 p.m. on Friday, March 5. Everyone who completes a survey will be entered in a prize drawing.
