The coed softball diamond had plenty of talent on it over the weekend. Ten local teams participated in this year's event. Some teams came to win a title, while others came to hit, pitch and find out what 10 years of not playing does to a person. (Lynn, you looked awesome!) The final four teams were the Gomez Landscape crew against the Cracker Jacks, while the other diamond had NCA (the Neer bunch) facing off with annual runner-ups Aaron Binks and the Swamp Donkeys. The Cracker Jacks put timely hitting and' great fielding together to advance to the championship while the Swamp Donkey's rode the hot bats of Nate Binks and Homer Ayoso into the finals. The championship game was a back and forth affair as the Donkeys took an early lead. The Jacks came back and took the lead in the fifth inning and never let it go. Aaron Haveron, Airaka Hiatt and Chania Weight lead the way for the Cracker Jacks. Other team members included Keena Braithwaite, Lisa Hansen, Zac Adams, Scott Gardener, Preston Nielson and Mike and Joanna Hudson. Cracker Jacks proved to have the "most talent" winning the coveted t-shirt, cooler and socks with a final score of 10-7. Kate Jar man / The Sentinel Namon. Bills./ The Sentinel |
