Several veterans from the Spanish Fork and Salem area participated in Hero Flight, an organization that sends World War II veterans to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The trip was three days long, giving the veterans the opportunity to visit the Washington, D.C. LDS Temple, the Maryland visitor's center, Arlington National Cemetery and the Vietnam, Korea and World War II Memorials. A banquet was also held in honor of the veterans.
