It began Friday at 7 p.m. with a special presentation by Susan Evans McCloud who gave inspirational thoughts and talked about her published book, "Anna," about a girl who immigrated from Iceland. McCloud is also the author See ICELAND* A8 Steve Hardman / Spanish Fork News GLOBAL SERVICE: Rotarians from around the world visited Spanish Fork as part of the Rotary International Convention held in Salt Lake City. Their day-long expedition included an Ail-American dinner and rodeo. SF Rotary hosts international visitors Christy Hardman STAFF WRITER On Monday, June 18,2007, Rotarians from many different countries came to the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds as part of the Rotary International Convention taking place at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City. Spanish Fork hosted 96 Rotarians from all over the world, including Denmark, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Finland, Germany, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand. Brazil, England, Scotland and Canada. They came here on two buses, and Rotarians Pat and Tracy Frandsen rode along and gave them a tour a various places along the way, as well as a historical background of Spanish Fork and other local areas. "Many of the people have never been to the US before," Pat said Karen Payne, who has been a Rotarian for about 12 years, said that all of the events that occurred in Spanish Fork, were planned and executed entirely by Spanish Fork Rotarians. They had a catered dinner at the indoor arena, and Diamond Fork Riding Club and the American Packhorse Association put See ROTARY • A10 Airport open house Steve Hardman / Spanish Fork News OFF WE GO: To say thanks to the Spanish Fork/Springviile Airport board, the cities and the taxpayers, Diamond Flight Services of Spanish Fork held an appreciation barbecue on Saturday, June 23. The runway and taxi-lanes were resurfaced as part of an effort to renovate the airport.
