Show B6 • WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2009 Sentinel Guardian of Your Community News Talent Contest and Pageant Salem's inaugural talent competition, Salem's Got Talent, held Friday, Aug. 7, fielded entries from groups and individuals featuring a variety of talents, from bands and vocals to dance. The top 10 finishers also performed at the Salem Days Pageant on Saturday. Results were as follows: 1st: Dalen Ficklin, piano solo 2nd: Band — City Swell, "Soul Divide/' Michael Jenkins, Spencer Faucett, Nate Kimball, Carson Lindley, Mary Jacobson 3rd: Band — Since Yesterday, "Autumn Rain," Natashia, Natalie and Monica Anderson 4th: Band — The Por Boys, "The Letter/Dream medley," Dalian Boothe, Mike Boothe, Paul Tuckett 5th: Dance Trio — "Love Today," Kenadee Limb, Maddie Porter, Lexi Jex 6th: Vocal Quartet — "New World," Sheii Preece, Coiton Simons, Lexi Brown, Sarah Clark 7th: Band — "Set Me Free," Jeff Compton, Rhett Nance, Dallin Jack, Toph Knutson 8th: Tayler Black Band, Tallin for You," Tayter Black, Ryan Condie, Austin Lindley 9th: Vocal Solo — Luke Hanks — "Jonas Brothers," Mayors Choice Award 10th: Jazz Combo — "Georgia," Sheii Preece, Erika Ahlin, Coiton Simmons, Justin Sly Christian Tliompson / The Sentinel NOW THAT'S TALENT: And, of course, what would the Salem Days Pageant be without a good-natured pie fight by the mayor and city council? Fireworks my ^|^||«M^, Christian Thompson / The Sentinel BIG BANG: Salem Days concluded with the traditional fireworks display following the Pageant Saturday, Aug. 8. Touted by many as some of the best fireworks in Utah County, this year's pyrotechnics did not disappoint. |
