Chris is always the first to volunteer for any act of service. He is the true definition of what a scout leader should be. He follows the scout oath, motto and law in all aspects of his life. He is a great leader. He loves teaching boys how to be men. We are proud to have him as our Scout Master. Randall Harward,Cross* winds 2nd. Even though Randall has never worked one-on-one with boys, he has, through his leadership as a Chartered Organization Head and as an Assistant District Commissioner, made sure that the boys have had great leaders and worked for what was best for the individual Scout. SUB-DISTRICT: SFSOUTH Richard Christianson, Crosswinds 1st. Rich Christiansen is one of Scouting's best friends. He works tirelessly to provide a top quality program for boys in his troop. Many years his "calling" has been in a support role to scouting and he has done a phenomenal job ensuring that: leaders were called with no lapse to the boys, leaders were trained, bishoprics understood importance of follow thru for calls, calendar and budget, and young men were encouraged to complete advancement requirements and projects to become Eagle Scouts. Part of Rich's legacy is establishing and shoring up a foundation that is a solid support to scouting for years and years to come. Venice Kimbali, Wolf Hollow 1st. Venice loves the children in our neighborhood and community. She values the Scouting ideals and diligently strives to prepare children for future service in her church and community. She has spent many extra hours promoting quality training and programs in the Spanish Fork South Stake. Her greatest satisfaction comes from personal interaction with Cub Scouts and watching them grow as they move through the ranks of Scouting. D. Lance Davies, 12th Ward. It is easy to see why scouting is an important part of Lance's life. He is driven by principles and overcoming challenges. Scouting fits right into his way of doing things. Most of his influence has been to call, train and motivate leaders who work directly with the boys. In spite of this, you'll see Lance at the Klondike, at Camp-orees and at camp-outs with the boys. He motivates them with quiet but powerful stories and examples of principles in action. They learn that these principles are learned and practiced in scouting. His oldest son is an Eagle Scout. His youngest son (who will be an Eagle Scout in 6-10 years) would rather vacation while scouting than to visit Disneyland or the beach. Lance Davies exemplifies a cheerful scout. SUB-DISTRICT: SALEM Russell Hanson, Salem 5th Ward. Russ has served in Scouting for many years, Including institutional head and Assistant District Commissioner. The youth in the Salem area have greatly benefited due to his leadership and strong support of scouting in this area. He continues to teach scout leaders and provide emphasis and support to all the scouting programs. Carol Fredericks, Salem 11th Ward. Carol has spent endless hours serving the young men of our ward in the scouting program. She has shown great skills as a leader to make things happen. Many of the advancements of the young men would not have happened without her direct involvement. She is a great example for the scouting ideals. "Her organizational skills are second to none. This award is well deserved and we love her. SUB-DISTRICT: SALEM WEST Mark Meservy, Mt. Loafer Ward. Mark is a dedicated and strong leader of young men. He has made every effort to be properly trained and prepared for the young men he leads. He is a great example of honesty and integrity for the scouts and never misses an opportunity to teach the young men when the time is right. He has run a well organized program and seen many advancements and merit badges earned. Courtesy photos Spanish Fork East Stake award recipients Joe Carrick, Mt. Loafer Ward. Joe knows and understands scouting forward and backwards whether it is running a program for the boys or overseeing a program for the adult leaders. As a Unit Commissioner, he trains and oversees the programs in the Salem Sub-District. If you want something done and done well, you ask Joe if he will be involved. And, when he is, you know the boys will receive the Aims of Scouting. SUB-DISTRICT: SF CANYON VIEW Michele Crane, Red Pines. Michele is an advocate who supports the principles of Scouting. Since we have known Michele, she has been involved in Scouting in one way or another. As a member of the LDS church, she has had various Scouting assignments including Den Leader, Cub Master, Cub Scout Committee Chair, and Scout Committee member over Advancement, Finances, Registration and Re-Chartering. Whenever we needed something done, Michele's hand was the first to rise in support to volunteer her time and service. Here is just one example of her desire to always be involved. This past summer Michele had a month or two where she was without a Scout assignment. Without hesitation, she signed up to attend Akela's Council. To top it off, she applied to work at the District Scout office. Now she serves as the Cub Scout District Roundtable Commissioner and thoroughly enjoys this assignment. Thank you, Michele, for all your service to Scouting and your unending belief that Scouting can truly change lives. Kay C. Whittaker, Red Pines. Kay C. Whittaker is a graduate of a BYU and has worked as a Nurse Practitioner at the Spanish Fork Clinic for many years. He met his wife Heidi at the Flonette Singles Ward and they now have four children, Chandler, Quinn C. Avery, and Paige. He is a very devoted husband and father and a strong priesthood leader. When a calling is given to Kay C , one knows it will be magnified far and beyond what is expected. With his callings in scouting, Kay C. Whittaker has demonstrated thru the years much love and dedication to this program. He has put in much time and effort to better the scouting program in the Red Pines Ward as well as the Palmyra District as See MERIT-BIO Spanish Fork South Stake award recipients Salem Stake award recipients Salem West Stake award recipients |
